For your animation project, each of you was asked to 1) embed your video to the portfolio, 2) leave your reflection about the project, and 3) talk about about the merits of student-generated educational videos while attaching one related resource online. If you haven’t done yet, complete it by 11:59 tonight. I will not ask you to submit a late pass for this additional individual work.
Also, if you were absent Friday, you still need to complete the following by 11:59 tonight.
- It is time to check your progress on social media project. Pull up your social media identity page, review it, then complete this form. The will be part your grade on social media identity project. We will have another chance to visit this project later at the end of the semester.
Now let’s look at comments you’ve got about your group video. Talk about the comments with your group members. What would be things you would like to revise if you were given another chance?
PART 1. Revisiting “Creativity and Innovation”
A reminder of the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) that address creativity and innovation:
Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. Students:
a. apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes.
b. create original works as a means of personal or group expression.
c. use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues.
d. identify trends and forecast possibilities.
PART 2. Creativity Contracts
We’re trying something different for the next two weeks of class. You’ll be using a learning contract to determine what you’ll be working on for the rest of our Creativity Unit. Each class session will begin with a discussion about what everyone is working on, I’ll share a relevant video or anecdote or I might spotlight a new tool. The remainder of each class will be spent working on the projects you selected in your learning contract, conferencing with me about what you are learning, and working with/ sharing ideas with your classmates. It’s going to be fun. Plan to bring snacks, headphones to listen to music, etc. From today through March 29 – we are a Creativity Learning Lab. Today, I’ll give you a brief overview of each of the projects. You can view an exemplary contract from last semester here. And here’s a really good one from Maymester 2012. (Just keep in mind that requirements and projects differ somewhat each semester.) All of the resources for the next few days of class are available on the Creativity and Innovation Contract.
1. Start working on your Creativity and Innovation contract. You will want to get a good start on at least one project and its documentation before you return to class on Wednesday.
